You will learn about the diversity and dynamics of an industry that encompasses airlines, tour operators, hotels and visitor attractions. The course examines the relationship between these sectors and the destinations and consumers that they serve. Technology continues to drive tourism forward, yet new developments threaten the environmental and cultural resources that actually stimulate tourist visitation. Increasingly the tourism industry must consider the balance between developing new destinations and the consequential negative impact on them. This course explores these sorts of issues, using real examples informed by the latest research. Alongside studying tourism issues, you study business management and learn skills from a variety of subjects, so that you can enter the industry as a skilled professional. This course offers you the opportunity to be part of one of the world's fastest-growing and most exciting industries. The programme also includes an optional placement year in the tourism industry and an overseas residential field trip.
